Annual Open Enrollment for UC Health and Welfare Plans

The annual Open Enrollment period for UC health and welfare plans begins on Tuesday, November 1 at 8:00 a.m. (PST) and ends at midnight (PST) on Wednesday, November 30, 2005. Open Enrollment provides the opportunity for faculty and staff to change medical or dental plan coverage and/or add eligible family members to their current benefit plans.

Eligible faculty and staff may also enroll in, or opt out of, UC-sponsored medical, dental, and vision plans, as well as change participation in the Dependent Care Assistance Program (DepCare), Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA) and Tax Savings on Insurance Premiums (TIP) program. Of special note this year is the one-time opportunity for faculty and staff to enroll in, or decrease their waiting period for, Supplemental Disability coverage without completing a statement of health. Plan changes will be made on the special UC Open Enrollment website located at http://atyourservice.ucop.edu/. Open Enrollment transactions must be completed by midnight (PST) on November 30. All Open Enrollment changes will be effective January 1, 2006.

UCSD faculty and staff should soon receive an official announcement and open enrollment information at their home address. Materials include a personalized statement showing current coverage and premium costs for 2006. Detailed information is also available online at http://atyourservice.ucop.edu/. The website includes the latest news on UC-sponsored plans, a step-by-step guide to Open Enrollment, publications, interactive tools to assist enrollees with health care decisions, and links to insurance carrier and other useful sites.

The Annual Health and Welfare Information Day (Benefits Fair) provides a great opportunity to ask questions of plan representatives. All faculty and staff are invited to attend. The UCSD Medical Center Benefits Fair will be held Monday, November 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Hillcrest Cafeteria small dining rooms and patio. The campus Benefits Fair is scheduled for Tuesday, November 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Price Center Ballroom B.

Event activities include:

- Carrier information booths

- Supplemental Disability Presentations, 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

- Flu shots (with staff ID) $18

- Massage therapy and door prizes

- Light refreshments
