SUBJECT:    Associate Vice Chancellor - Finance and Administration for
Health Sciences

It is my pleasure to announce that Thomas Jackiewicz, who has served as Chief of Staff -Health Sciences since his recruitment in January 2002, has been named Associate Vice Chancellor, Finance and Administration - Health Sciences.

Since joining the Health Sciences senior administrative team, Tom has overseen finance, space management, contracts and grants, information technology and program planning for the School of Medicine and the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, as well as for the UCSD Medical Group, working in collaboration with their administrators.

His responsibilities for coordinating and operationalizing the many academic, research and clinical initiatives we have underway have increased over the years. He has developed and implemented faculty, chair and clinical enterprise incentive plans, and he is directing development of a mission specific budgeting system. He has played a leadership role in planning and occupancy of the Leichtag Family Foundation Biomedical Research Building and the Rebecca and John Moores UCSD Cancer Center and has successfully managed a number of projects of vital importance to the Health Sciences.

Tom is a skilled and respected administrator. He is committed to providing an efficient and service-oriented administrative infrastructure to support the enterprise. I am delighted that he has accepted the new role of Associate Vice Chancellor as we continue to expand and enhance facilities, systems and programs to advance teaching, research and patient care, today and into the future.

Please join me in congratulating Tom on his new position.
