SUBJECT:	Transfer of Case Management to UCSD Technology Transfer and
	Intellectual Property Services (TechTIPS)

Following consultation both within the University and with key external constituents, the University of California Office of the President will be accelerating the pace at which technology licensing authority and responsibility are transferred from the Office of Technology Transfer at UCOP (OTT) to the campuses. UCSD has been selected as the first campus to implement this change, and UCSD and OTT have agreed to a plan that will transfer essentially all the OTT-managed intellectual property to TechTIPS management by June 30, 2006. Consistent with this goal, OTT is asking all UCSD inventors to send new invention disclosures directly to the TechTIPS office, irrespective of whether they currently have cases managed at OTT. TechTIPS and OTT will coordinate to assign these disclosures to the appropriate licensing officer to ensure efficient management of an inventor’s technology portfolio throughout the transition period.
