KEY ADMINISTRATORS/KEY SUPPORT STAFF (including UCSD Healthcare)

SUBJECT:    2005-2006 Staff Salary Program for Policy-Covered Employees

I am pleased to announce the 2005-2006 Staff Salary Program for policy-covered (non-exclusively represented) employees. The merit fund pool is 3.5%. The salary increases will take effect October 1, 2005 for monthly paid employees, and September 25, 2005 for biweekly paid employees. Merit increases are intended for employees with an overall solid or better performance level.

The PSS (Professional and Support Staff) and MSP (Managers and Senior Professionals) salary grade structures have been appropriately revised and are to be effective concurrent with the salary increases. The new grade structures and additional information regarding administration of the merit pay plan may be found at:

The 2005-2006 Staff Salary Program includes additional funding for equity/parity increases. The fund pool is 0.5%. This limited funding provides Vice Chancellors the opportunity to assess the salary rates of the employees in their departments and to begin to address salary inequities. Salary recommendations for those employees who are to receive an equity/parity increase will be processed after the merit increases have been implemented, but will be effective October 1st.

Information regarding the Employee Incentive Award Program will be communicated at a later date.

Salary increases for exclusively represented staff are subject to collective bargaining agreements. Salary increases for academic personnel will be detailed in a separate communication from the Senior Vice Chancellor - Academic Affairs.

Key Administrators are requested to share this information with affected employees in their areas. Campus employees with questions or comments may contact Ray Rodriguez, Compensation Manager, at (858) 534-0281, or via e-mail at rrodriguez@ucsd.edu. UCSD Medical Center employees may contact Ann Skinner, Medical Center Human Resources Director, at (619) 543-7622.
