SUBJECT:    Improved Visitor Parking Services

In our continuing efforts to provide safe and convenient parking for the campus community, Transportation and Parking Services is implementing new procedures to enhance customer service. Based on feedback from campus departments and organizations, including the UCSD Marketing Council, we are expanding services and adopting new technology to improve parking for visitors and guests attending special events.

Transportation and Parking Services will soon be introducing mobile permit payment stations to support special events parking. These pay-and-display permit stations will provide event guests a convenient, user-friendly way to purchase parking permits. The paystations accept coins, cash, and credit cards. Upon payment, patrons receive a permit for dashboard display. Initially, mobile paystation use will be determined by event parking demand focusing on events with 200+ guests. Over the next few months, permanent paystations will be installed at the Gilman and North Point Visitor Information Centers, and the Gilman and Pangea Parking Structures. Additional permanent paystations will also be installed in designated campus and Medical Center locations.

If you coordinate special events, or have a colleague visiting UCSD, please see http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/eventparking to view parking permit options for individual, small, or large group events. A Special Events Parking Services representative can also help you choose the best option for your specific event.
