Dear Colleagues,
UCSD's Senate Council has formed a task force to study faculty service--its culture, expectations, structures, procedures, distribution, and place within the academic reward system.
Here are some examples of questions that the task force may consider:
What counts as university "service"?
How should service be rewarded?
What incentives exist or should exist for service, especially service to the Academic Senate?
How adequately do we socialize new colleagues to the campus tradition of service and shared governance?
