ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD

SUBJECT:    Campuswide Holiday Energy Conservation

The holiday season is quickly upon us and Facilities Management would like to remind you to take the time to "boost" your voluntary conservation efforts. Approximately one-third of all campus power consumption is controlled by end users. In general, anything that is not absolutely necessary should be turned off. Office computers that are not needed to support continuous research should be powered down for the duration of the holiday. Other specific conservation measures can be found on Blink at http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/energysave

Facilities Management will be helping with these conservation efforts by going to "weekend mode" from Saturday, December 23 through Tuesday, January 2. The "weekend mode" will only affect non-critical locations (mostly offices and common areas). This means that heating and cooling set points will be adjusted at a level to conserve more energy. If you experience any difficulties during this time, please do not hesitate to contact Facilities Management, Customer Relations at (858) 534-2930.

Happy Holidays and all the best in 2007!
