ALL UCSD SENATE FACULTY

SUBJECT:    New Program: Dine-With-A-Prof

In response to issues raised in the Undergraduate Student Experience and Satisfaction Committee Report, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs has created a program that offers a chance for faculty and students to develop and strengthen associations outside of the classroom. Students will be informed that "Dine-with-a-Prof" cards are available from their colleges that will enable them, and two other students, to invite a faculty member to lunch at the Faculty Club or any college residential dining facility. This is a good opportunity for students and faculty to share their mutual interest in academic issues and learning on campus.

Below is a flyer announcing the program generated by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Please feel free to contact Renee Barnett Terry, Dean of Student Affairs, Revelle College (x41578; rbarnett@ucsd.edu) with any questions. We strongly urge that you participate in this program if you are invited by a student.

Dine-With-A-Prof Program

You are invited to participate in a new program sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs to increase interactions with UCSD students and faculty outside of the classroom -- Dine-with-a-Prof Program.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The student will invite a faculty member to dine for lunch, and the meal will be limited to one faculty member with no more than three UCSD students.

Any UCSD undergraduate student can obtain a meal card for the program at the College Dean of Student Affairs Office for lunch with a UCSD faculty member.

The lunch will be held on campus at the Faculty Club or any college residential dining facility.

The meal card can be redeemed only by the faculty member with the student(s) as guest(s).

Thank you for taking the time to interact with UCSD undergraduate students through participation in this program.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Renee Barnett Terry, Dean of Student Affairs at Revelle College at rbarnett@ucsd.edu or 4-1578.
