SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT - Price Center Expansion

Project Description/Location

The Price Center Expansion includes additions totaling 173,000 gross sq. ft. to the Price Center and Bookstore, along with a phased remodeling of the Bookstore. Renderings and a model of the Project have been in the Lobby of the Price Center for a few months. All existing functions within the Price Center will be active and accessible for the entire duration of construction. The site fence for the Price Center Expansion will be expanded around the first week in April after the shuttle service to the area has been revised per Campus Notice from the Parking and Transportation Department dated March 15, 2006
http://adminrecords.ucsd.edu/Notices/2006/2006-3-15-1.html.

Immediate Street Impacts

Beginning on April 10, 2006 and continuing until December of 2007, pedestrian traffic through the existing Price Center loading area will be rerouted along the western edges of the SERF and CMRR buildings. Service access to the Price Center loading dock will be from the south by way of Myers Drive. Lyman Lane and Mandeville Walk will remain open as pedestrian pathways throughout the duration of the Project.

If you have any questions, please contact the Project Manager, Jay Smith, at 858-534-5343, or Project Specialist, Lang Darnell, at 858-822-1852. We greatly appreciate your patience during these construction activities.
