On Thursday, April 13, in the Price Center and the Warren Lecture Hall,
the Graduate Student Association, the Literature Department & Office of
Diversity will sponsor a day-long series of discussions and workshops on
a topic of fundamental importance to our campus: Academic Freedom. I
encourage you to visit the UC Office of the President website listed
below to reacquaint yourself with this ideal; the conference sponsors
invite you to attend any of the events on Thursday. In addition to the
Keynote Address by John K. Wilson, the founder of College Freedom, the
conference will feature two of the UCLA faculty who have faced
challenges to their academic freedom by being listed among the "Dirty
Thirty."
