Associated Students Spring Elections

It is that time of the year again when we as students weigh in on who we want to be our elected representatives serving on college councils and the Associated Students.

This year I want to personally encourage all students to take part in the elections by casting their votes. It is important for the student body to take part in this process because your decision will set the tone on campuswide initiatives from campus climate, to student fees, and to the operations of the university. A list of positions and candidates are available on the AS Web site (http://as.ucsd.edu/elections/).

In addition, there is a referendum question to weigh in on. This question is in regards to raising the A.S. Student Activity fee from $21.00 to $30.00 per student per quarter. Information on both sides of this issue can be located on the AS Web site or in the AS Elections 2006 Sample Ballot pamphlets.

The Associated Students is here to serve you, but student government only works with input and participation by the student body. Make sure your voice is heard and vote by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2006 on Tritonlink (https://tritonlink.ucsd.edu/portal/site/tritonlink-preview).

It has been my pleasure serving you as your President on the national, state, local levels and, more importantly, within our community of UCSD.
