UCSD Mail Services Rate Increase

This is the third of a three year phase-in of necessary increases to rates for the departmental delivery of inter-departmental and other mail. This is necessary due to the continuing decline in revenue from postage on outgoing mail, which has previously subsidized the cost of inter-departmental mail deliveries and the increased growth of the campus. Mail Services is a campus recharge unit, and as such, the campus Recharge Rate Review Committee reviewed and approved the phased-in rates in early 2004.

The new monthly delivery rate effective April 1, 2006, is $60 per mail code, for one mail delivery between 8:00 and 11:00 am per day. The rate for two deliveries per day is $115 per month. The rate for more than two deliveries or for any regular or recurring deliveries or pick-ups scheduled after 2:30 pm is $170 per month. We are committed to keeping these rate increases as low as possible. Over the past year we have made significant gains in improving our processes for sorting and delivery of the campus mail. We will continue this effort and strive to provide you with the high level of service you expect. Any changes to mail deliveries in the month of April will be reflected on the May billing statement.
