SUBJECT:    Realignment of Equipment Management Office

I am pleased to inform you that the Equipment Management office has been transferred from the Purchasing Division of Business and Financial Services to become an integral part of the General Accounting Division.

This organizational realignment is due to new requirements for accountability, as established by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board. Under these new regulations, those responsible for campus asset management have heightened requirements for generating accurate and reliable asset accounting information and delivering timely financial reporting. We believe that this realignment will better equip UCSD with the knowledge and tools to satisfy these new requirements.

The Equipment Management Team now reports to Steve Ste Marie, who leads the Capital Assets area in General Accounting. Please contact Steve at (858) 534-4638 or Bill McCarroll at (858) 534-4736, if you have any questions or concerns regarding this organizational change.
