KEY ADMINISTRATORS/KEY SUPPORT STAFF

SUBJECT:    UCSD Health and Safety Policy (PPM 516-1)

The UCSD Health & Safety Policy has been revised to reflect UCSD's commitment to providing a healthy and safe working environment and in supporting environmentally sound practices. UCSD has implemented management initiatives and best practices to systematically integrate health, safety, and environmental considerations and sustainable use of natural resources into all activities to ensure the protection of all.

The University's goal is to prevent all workplace injuries and illnesses, environmental incidents, and property losses or damage. This issuance emphasizes the role of the supervisor in achieving these goals and delineates those activities requiring advanced authorization, such as the use of radioactive materials, biohazardous materials, recombinant DNA and controlled substances.

All supervisors should be made aware of their role in the UCSD health and safety program. This issuance is available at the following web address: http://adminrecords.ucsd.edu/ppm/docs/516-1.pdf

If anyone should have any questions regarding this issuance, please contact me by email at sbenedict@ucsd.edu or by phone at (858)534-3659.
