UCSD Veterans Association Annual Recognition Ceremony

I am pleased to announce and encourage faculty, staff and students to participate in the Eighth Annual UC San Diego Veterans Association Recognition Ceremony as it honors veterans and the men and women in our Armed Forces. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. in UC San Diego's Natural Sciences Building, first floor conference room, and is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served immediately following the ceremony. Please join the Veterans Association at UC San Diego for this very special event.

This year's ceremony will acknowledge the dedication of our military medical personnel. Honored guests include United States Navy Captain Harold R. Bohman, who has served three tours in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; Pearl Harbor Survivor Stuart Hedley; and the 2007 UC San Diego Veteran of the Year, Dr. Chris Halter.

To support the Veterans Association Recognition Ceremony, I am approving one hour of administrative leave with pay so that employees may attend the event. Therefore, supervisors are encouraged to grant employees one hour of administrative leave to attend the Ceremony when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required duties or patient care.
