Interim Vice Chancellor – External Relations

I want to thank V. Wayne Kennedy for his service over the past several months as our Interim Vice Chancellor – External Relations. We are grateful for the time he took from his family and private consulting to lead External Relations.

In addition, Rebecca Newman will leave her post as Associate Vice Chancellor for Development as of February 1, 2008. We congratulate her on her new position at the Salk Institute as Vice President of Development and Institute Relations.

Wayne and Becky made major contributions to the successful $1 billion “The Campaign for UCSD: Imagine What’s Next.” They will always hold a special place on campus.

I am pleased to announce that Vice Chancellor – Business Affairs Steve Relyea has agreed to serve as Interim Vice Chancellor – External Relations while our national search for a new Vice Chancellor continues. As Vice Chancellor – Business Affairs, Steve oversees campus-wide administrative operations including financial services, human resources, facilities, purchasing, administrative computing, telecommunications, housing, food services, police, bookstores, environmental health and safety, and other campus administrative functions.

We wish Wayne and Becky the very best, and we are grateful for Steve’s willingness to serve in this interim capacity.
