Memorial Program to Honor Dr. Leon Thal

Please join colleagues, friends and family in a commemorative tribute to the life and work of our esteemed colleague, Leon J. Thal, M.D., who died February 3. The program will be held Monday, March 5, beginning at 2 p.m. in the Hojel Auditorium, UCSD's Institute of the Americas, with a reception following. Overflow seating will be in the Deutz Room, located near the auditorium. Limited parking is available at the Pangea parking structure.

Dr. Thal was an internationally respected researcher and clinician who served as chair of the UCSD Department of Neurosciences, director of UCSD's Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, director of the multi-center Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study and a physician at the Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System.

In honor of Dr. Thal's commitment to the training of promising neuroscientists, the "Leon J. Thal Educational Fund in Neurosciences" has been established.
