SUBJECT:	Update on Monday, April 30 - Town Hall to Discuss
	Emergency Preparedness

Please join me for a Town Hall from noon to 1 p.m. in the Price Center Ballroom (B) on Monday, April 30, to discuss emergency preparedness at UC San Diego. After the tragedy at Virginia Tech, we want to ensure that we’re considering all opportunities for appropriate responses to the challenges that such an emergency presents.

Shuttles will be provided for participants from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Thornton Hospital, and Hillcrest Medical Center at the following times and locations:

SIO: Pick-up 11:30 a.m. at Nierenberg Lot P014
Return from Mandeville Lane 1:15 p.m.

THORNTON: Pick-up 11:20 a.m., regular shuttle stop
Return Gilman/Myers 1:05 p.m. and 1:25 p.m.

HILLCREST: Pick-up at 10:50 and 11:15 a.m., regular shuttle stop
Return from Gilman/Myers at 1:05 and 1:25 p.m.

I am approving one hour of administrative leave with pay that employees may apply to their attendance at the Town Hall, and I ask supervisors to allow employees to attend, as long as the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties.
