Project Description/Location The Urey Hall Lab Remodel and Core Upgrade Project currently under construction is replacing existing exhaust fans on the roof of Urey Hall. Immediate Street and Building Impacts The general contractor will use a helicopter to remove and replace two existing roof top mounted exhaust fans on Urey Hall. Due to the security and safety requirements needed when a helicopter is used, pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular traffic in the vicinity of Urey Hall, Pacific Hall, Natural Sciences, Revelle College Commons & Blake Hall will be restricted. Additionally, Parking Lot 101 will close the afternoon of May 23 and remain closed until the removal and replacement of the exhaust fans are completed. The helicopter will hover approximately 75 feet in the air and above Urey Hall during the sequence of operation. Noise and air turbulence should be expected. On Thursday, May 24 at 7:00 AM and continuing until approximately 9:00 AM, pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular traffic in the vicinity of Urey Hall will be rerouted around adjacent facilities, see attached map for area of restricted circulation. The contractor will be providing personnel to secure the site and direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic using alternative paths and roads. If you have any questions, please contact the Project Manager, Chuck Kaminski (858-822-3280) or Project Specialist, Lang Darnell (858-822-1852).
