SUBJECT:    Transfer Admit Day, Saturday, May 12, 2007

The University of California, San Diego, hosts Transfer Admit Day for newly admitted transfer students and their families on Saturday, May 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with opening sessions running concurrently in the Price Center Theatre and the Student Services Center Multipurpose Room.

The purpose of Transfer Admit Day is to help transfer students make their final college decisions for fall 2007. The event, hosted by UCSD’s Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools and the All Campus Transfer Association (ACTA), is an opportunity for admitted transfer students to discover campus life through academic department presentations, workshops, campus tours, an information fair, and visits to their UCSD undergraduate colleges. Parking is free of charge.

The day will begin with a series of Welcome Sessions at 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. led by Mae Brown, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Admissions and Enrollment Services, and Randell Hernandez, Deputy Director of Admissions and Relations with Schools. Chancellor Marye Anne Fox and Joseph Watson, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, will deliver the University Welcome. Visitors will also be greeted by Nina Ruedas, President of ACTA (All Campus Transfer Association). Workshops will cover a wide range of popular interests to prepare students for life at UCSD, including career planning and graduate and professional school services, commuter student issues, financial aid, campus academic support services, and more. Academic department representatives will present information on majors, academic expectations and a number of academic opportunities. Visitors can meet with representatives from various campus support services and student organizations at the information fair. Student-led campus tours will provide a closer look at facilities and highlights of the campus.

Transfer Admit Day provides students and their families with an inside look at the campus and the many services awaiting them at UCSD. All members of the campus are encouraged to join in welcoming transfer students to UCSD on May 12.
