Search for the Dean of the Division of Arts and Humanities

A national search for the new Dean of the Division of Arts and Humanities is now commencing, and I am pleased to invite applications and nominations for this position.

The Dean of Arts and Humanities is the academic and administrative leader of the Arts and Humanities Division; the Division includes the departments of History, Literature, Philosophy, Music, Theatre and Dance, and Visual Arts. As a key member of the University's leadership, the Dean reports directly to the Senior Vice Chancellor-Academic Affairs and represents the Division at the campus, local, state, national, and international levels. The Dean plays a leadership role in the Division's cross-disciplinary collaborations with other divisions and schools throughout the campus.

Successful candidates should have prior experience in academic administration (preferably including a term as department chair) and must have a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and service appropriate for appointment as a tenured senior professor in the Division. The Dean will be appointed to serve at 100% time for a five-year term, renewable following appropriate review.
