UCSD CAMPUS NOTICE University of California, San Diego |
|||||
November 3, 2008
On Thursday, November 13, 2008 the nation’s largest state sponsored emergency exercise will take place to test California’s capability to respond and recover from a major catastrophic earthquake. It is based on a potential magnitude 7.8 earthquake on the southern San Andreas Fault— approximately 5,000 times larger than the magnitude 5.4 earthquake that shook southern California on July 29, 2008. In conjunction with the state-wide exercise, the campus emergency operations center and emergency policy group will conduct an exercise on November 13, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Although several campus departments will conduct small earthquake-related response drills during this event, no campus operations will be affected as a result of the exercise. We encourage staff, students and faculty to use this opportunity to find out what you can do to be better prepared in the event of an earthquake.
