MEMBERS OF THE REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY
Dear Colleagues: The second meeting of the Representative Assembly for the 2007-08 academic year will take place on Tuesday, February 26 at 3:30 p.m., in the Center for Molecular Genetics Conference Room. The Notice of Meeting (agenda) and all pertinent documents may be found on the Senate's Web page at: http://www-senate.ucsd.edu/assembly/agenda/current.htm The Assembly is charged with nominating a slate of candidates for election to the Committee on Committees and this will be one of the first items of business at our meeting. As required, the Senate Council has provided a slate of possible nominees (see agenda page 14); members of the Assembly may make additional nominations from the floor. If you intend to make a nomination from the floor, please make sure in advance that the person is willing to serve if elected. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS: Professor John Haviland, Chair of the Committee on International Education, will brief the Assembly on the Report of the UC Joint Ad Hoc Committee on International Education. We will also have a discussion of the Report of the Senate-Administration Task Force on Organized Research Units, led by Professor William Hodgkiss, Chair of the Committee on Research. Both topics are important to the future of the campus. For help in reaching the Web site, or to obtain a paper copy of the Notice of Meeting, please contact the Academic Senate Office at 858-534-3640. If at all times you prefer to receive a paper copy of the Notice of Meeting, let us know, and we'll put you on our mailing list. If you cannot attend next week's meeting, please be sure to notify your alternate to do so in your stead. Your absence matters. I look forward to seeing you on the 26th.
