ACADEMIC SENATE FACULTY

SUBJECT:    Call for Proposals - Global Seminars Summer 2009 - Faculty-Led Programs Abroad

In Summer 2008 UCSD will begin offering faculty-led programs abroad called Global Seminars. Eight Global Seminar programs will be offered this summer in five countries, with 140 students.

Along with David Mares, UCSD's Programs Abroad Office Faculty Director, and Lynn Anderson, Dean of International Education, we would like to invite you to consider leading one of these programs by proposing courses to be taught abroad during Summer 2009. A selection committee will review proposals and select courses that offer students a range of destinations, disciplines, and cost. Details and an application may be found on the Programs Abroad Office website at http://pao.ucsd.edu/pao/GSHome.html. Proposals must be submitted by Tuesday, June 2, 2008.

Global Seminars Information Sessions will be held on Tuesday, May 6, from 5:00-6:00 p.m., and Wednesday, May 14, from 12:00-1:00 p.m., in the International Center Oceanids Pavilion. Dr. Matthew Herbst, a 2008 Global Seminar instructor, and Jim Galvin, Director of Opportunities and Faculty-Led Programs Abroad, will be on hand to answer faculty questions. If you are unable to attend one of the Information Sessions, you may also contact Jim Galvin (858 /534-7857 or jgalvin@ucsd.edu) for details.

Please feel free to contact Lynn Anderson (ander043@ucsd.edu) with any questions.
