ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD (excluding UCSD Medical Center)

SUBJECT:    September is Campus Preparedness Month

In October of last year Southern California experienced large-scale wild-land fires. Conditions continue to indicate a high level of fire risk this year. Beyond the risk of wild-land fire, we want all members of the campus community to prepare yourself, your staff, and your family for natural, technological and human caused disasters.

September is Campus Preparedness Month, providing an excellent opportunity to review with colleagues and family, what to do in the event of an emergency. Please take time to review the campus Emergency Management Plan, your Department Emergency Action Plan, and your Personal Supplies Checklist for emergency events. Find details on each of these topics at: http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/emergencyprep.

We also encourage you to enroll in the campus voicemail and text emergency notification system. Go to http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/emergencyphonereg to enroll. On Monday, September 29 there will be a test of the system and, if enrolled, you will receive a test message to your phone.

Please feel free to contact our offices regarding campus emergency preparedness efforts and to learn steps you can take to be more prepared.
