Dear Colleagues:
Our first meeting of the 2009-10 academic year is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27 at 3:30 p.m., in the Center for Molecular Genetics Conference Room. The Notice of Meeting (agenda) and all pertinent documents may be found on the Senate's Web page at:

SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS: The University's financial situation is a matter of grave concern to all of us, and consequently we have asked Senior Vice Chancellor Paul Drake, Vice Chancellor Gary Matthews, and Assistant Vice Chancellor Ron Espiritu to provide the Assembly with updates on various aspects of the current budgetary and furlough situation.
Also at this first meeting, one of the important items of business will be to elect two individuals from among the Assembly membership to serve as representatives to the Senate Council. The Senate Council oversees the functioning of the Division, determines the agenda for meetings of the Representative Assembly, and is empowered to take action for the Assembly in emergencies. If you intend to make a nomination from the floor, please make sure in advance that the person is willing to serve.
