In this time of significant campus budget reductions, embracing new tools and technology can help us work more efficiently and achieve cost savings in support of the research, teaching, clinical, and community missions of UC San Diego.

Sharecase 2009 (http://sharecase.ucsd.edu ) will focus on presentations and exhibits offering tools and technology to help you better monitor costs, be more informed, work smarter, and streamline your daily administrative tasks.

I encourage supervisors to release staff to attend job-related presentations as work permits. These are just a few of the specific presentations designed to address cost reduction:

* Saving You Money: the Buying Power of UC

* Cost Center Management

* CED Energy Advantage Presentation on Sustainable Lighting Solutions

In fact, Sharecase will offer you an opportunity to be more sustainable by providing reusable bags this year, something you might even use to transport your Sharecase lunch to your table.
