DONOR STEWARDSHIP August 26, 2009
KEY ADMINISTRATIVE / KEY SUPPORT STAFF
I am pleased to announce the issuance of the UCSD Support Group policy, located in Policy and Procedure Manual Section 510-5. This new policy establishes campus-specific controls and processes to ensure that Support Groups are in compliance with University Policy and Guidelines. A UCSD Support Group is any group, organization, foundation, or association (1) whose primary purpose is to provide assistance through fund raising, public outreach, and other support for the University's mission, or (2) whose representatives or activities make the entity indistinguishable from the University itself, or (3) that acts as an agent or intermediary for the University. Please note this policy does not apply to: A. Registered Student Organizations B. Employee Associations or Employee Organizations C. UC San Diego Alumni Association D. UC San Diego Foundation See the full policy for definitions and scope. http://adminrecords.ucsd.edu/ppm/docs/510-5.pdf This new policy will offer UC San Diego Support Groups a campus specific document for Support Group policy and procedure. It clearly identifies roles and responsibilities at UCSD in the management and enforcement of support group policy. I would like to acknowledge the participation of Development Officers, Business Officers and other UCSD personnel who are actively involved with support groups for their input regarding this policy. Questions about this new policy may be directed to Corinne Cramer, Donor Stewardship, (858) 534-8888 or ccramer@ucsd.edu.
