SUBJECT:	CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Interior Renovation to Stewart
	Commons Dining Facility, Building 225

Project Description/Location:

Renovation of the Stewart Dining Commons Facility will begin on September 8, 2009. The approximately 16,500 square foot project consists of complete interior renovation to existing 2nd floor dining hall and kitchen (Sierra Summit), and fire sprinkler improvements to 1st and 2nd floors. Stewart Commons, Building 225 is located in Muir College South of Muir Lane and West of McGill Hall.

Immediate Street and pedestrian walkway impacts for demolition and construction work:

Commencing on September 8, 2009 and continuing until July 2010, vehicular traffic on adjacent streets around the site, and the southerly portion of parking lots P207 and P208 will be impacted at times to accommodate construction activities. There will be occasions when Muir Lane will be restricted to one lane of traffic. During these times flagmen will be directing traffic.

Pedestrian circulation towards campus through Stewart Commons from Tenaya 215, Tioga 210, and Tuolomne 230 Apartments will be re-directed away from Stewart Commons northward towards Muir Lane until July 2010.

Detour signs for vehicles and pedestrian traffic will also be posted.
