Chancellor's Challenge 5K Run/Walk for Scholars

Chancellor Marye Anne Fox will lead the 14th annual Chancellor's Challenge 5K Run/Walk for Scholars on Friday, October 23, 2009 to raise undergraduate scholarship support for UC San Diego students. We invite all staff, faculty, students, alumni and friends to join us for this fun, worthwhile event.

With state funding on the decline and recent increases in student fees, scholarships are of critical importance for our students’ continued success. Thanks to the support of the campus community and friends of the University, the Chancellor's Challenge 5K has raised $2.12 million, providing scholarships for more than 800 undergraduates since the event was established in 1996.

The Chancellor's Challenge 5K Run/Walk for Scholars will begin and end on the North Campus Field, adjacent to RIMAC. Check-in begins at 10:30 a.m., with the race beginning at 12:15 p.m. Lunch will be provided after the race.

Event registration for faculty and staff is still only $15, and student registration is just $10, yet your contribution, pooled with other participants, can make a big impact on deserving students. Your entry fee directly benefits undergraduate scholars hips and includes:

* A scenic 5K run/walk through campus

* Chancellor's Challenge 5K T-shirt

* Lunch following the race

* And most important, an opportunity to support our students.

Register and pay online at www.ucsd.edu/5k. Registered participants may pick up a bib number and T-shirt early on Thursday, October 22, between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at RIMAC.
