SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT - Structural and Materials Engineering Building – Utility Work

Project Description/Location:

The new Structural and Materials Engineering Building is under construction south of Matthews Lane and Voigt Drive; and west and north of Lyman Lane as it curves at its eastern most end. This building will provide 110,000 ASF of additional instructional and research space for the Jacobs School of Engineering and the Department of Visual Arts. During the Holiday closure period some utility work will take place both in Matthews Lane and along Lyman Lane.

Immediate Street Impacts:

Beginning December 13, 2010 and continuing until January 3, 2011, a utility trench will be cut across Matthews Lane north of the Project. Flagmen will direct traffic whenever it is necessary to reduce access to one lane. In addition flagmen will be available along Lyman Lane when necessary. It is hoped that by utilizing this closure period to accomplish this work there will be minimal impact to Campus circulation and disruption of services.
