Statement from Senate Committee on Diversity and Equity

Dear Colleagues:

Members of the University of California San Diego Academic Senate Committee on Diversity and Equity (CDE) share the deep concerns of UCSD students, staff, faculty and administration about recent racially charged events on campus that violate UCSD's Principles of Community and that highlight a need to enhance diversity and tolerance on campus. We applaud the efforts of students, staff, faculty and administration to identify and implement strategies to promote a climate of greater inclusion on campus.

We also pledge to focus our intensive efforts in the coming months to help promote policies of diversity, inclusion and outreach and to help students, staff, faculty and administration in identifying and implementing such policies and solutions. We will meet with students, faculty and administration to ensure that principles of inclusion, outreach and diversity are priorities of this campus.
