April 21, 2010
ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD (excluding the Medical Center)
Tomorrow (Thursday, April 22), employees and employers across the country participate in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. This special day focuses the nation's attention on creating opportunities for girls and boys to share and communicate their expectations for the future. Founded by the Ms. Foundation for Women, Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day has evolved over the years to provide families with activities that strengthen the connections between education and work, and the relationships between parents and their children. UC San Diego will again honor this day, although the university will not arrange specific activities. In order to participate in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day on Thursday, April 22, 2010, employees are asked to discuss with their supervisor their participation in advance. Employees approved to participate in taking their child/children to work at UC San Diego may receive 2 hours of administrative leave with pay. Participating children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Supervisors are asked to grant employees 2 hours of administrative leave with pay providing the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties.
