EXTERNAL & BUSINESS AFFAIRS
OFFICE OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR - April 5, 2010
ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD
We are pleased to announce that Charlotte Klock will serve as Interim Chief Information Security and Privacy Officer for all of UCSD while a national search for Elazar Harel’s (AVC Administrative Computing & Telecommunications) successor is undertaken. As Interim Chief Information Security & Privacy Officer, Charlotte will oversee the newly formed Information Security and Privacy Council (ISPC) (see attached here: http://www-vcrmp.ucsd.edu/ISG/04012010%20ISPC%20Charter.doc). This council is advisory to the UCSD Ethics and Compliance Officer, who chairs the UCSD Compliance, Audit, Risk, and Ethics Committee (CARE). The ISPC will provide guidance on the appropriate application of State and Federal privacy breach notification laws. Charlotte will also have oversight of any campus security incidents and will continue to work closely with the security teams across the various units of UCSD. Charlotte has served as the Executive Director of Infrastructure in Administrative Computing and Telecommunications since 1998 and has provided exceptional leadership for a number of UCSD and UC security initiatives. We know Charlotte will appreciate your support during this time of transition. Questions about the announcement should be addressed to Charlotte Klock, at cklock@ucsd.edu or x21223.
