Commission on the Future of UC, Town Hall Meeting, May 19

Dear Colleagues:

Earlier this year, The Regents established both a Commission on the Future of UC and Working Groups of the Commission to address a variety of broad issues and propose solutions. The recommendations of the Working Groups can be found at http://ucfuture.universityofcalifornia.edu/. Also, the University Committee on Planning and Budget has generated a "Choices" report (http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/senate/ucpb.choices.pdf) that you might find informative as you review the recommendations.

The Academic Senate has been asked to comment on the recommendations and all of the Senate committees are in the process of doing so. In order to provide an opportunity for broader faculty input, we have scheduled a Town Hall meeting with the San Diego faculty representatives to the Working Groups (listed below):

Time: 4-5 p.m.
Place: Conference Room, Leichtag Building

I urge you to attend to ask questions and provide comments about the recommendations of the Working Groups. These recommendations will be presented to The Regents in July and a strong Senate response is imperative.
