New Recommendations to the Commission on the Future of UC

Dear Colleagues:

Earlier this year, The Regents established both a Commission on the Future of UC and Working Groups of the Commission to address a variety of broad issues and propose solutions. The Working Groups generated a first set of recommendations that the Academic Senate subsequently reviewed and commented on; the recommendations and the Senate’s response can be found at http://ucfuture.universityofcalifornia.edu/

Additional recommendations were made to the Commission at its meeting on June 14 and systemwide Academic Senate Chair Henry Powell has asked the Divisions to comment on the new recommendations, which have been posted on the San Diego Academic Senate website at: http://senate.ucsd.edu/FrontPageDocs/UCCF/COTF2ndRecommendations.pdf

I encourage you to review the new recommendations and send any comments you might have to me at academicsenatechair@ucsd.edu before July 19. A response template that you may find useful can be found at http://senate.ucsd.edu/

The Senate responded strongly and extensively to the first set of recommendations to the Commission and the Senate’s response to the new recommendations is equally important.
