ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UCSD

SUBJECT:    Director of Student Conduct

I am pleased to announce that Ben White has accepted the position of Director of Student Conduct, effective August 9, 2010. Ben comes to UCSD from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA where he was the Associate Director for Judicial Affairs from August 2004 to the present.

The Student Conduct Director serves as the senior conduct officer for the University of California, San Diego. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor-Student Affairs, the Student Conduct Director performs a critical role of coordination, communication, education and advisement. UCSD is currently engaged in a comprehensive revision of the Student Code of Conduct, and he will have the opportunity to take part in this far-reaching project, helping to shape both the process and content of the code.

He will be providing leadership for the student conduct process, insuring an educational focus and outcome. Working closely with the Deans of the six undergraduate colleges and the Assistant Deans of the graduate programs he will insure the prompt and fair resolution of conduct matters, as well as advising the Vice Chancellor on conduct-related policy matters, staying abreast of system wide policy issues and national trends regarding conduct and educating the UCSD community on emergent policy issues.

Please join me in congratulating Ben White on his appointment.
