ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UCSD
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor David Woodruff to the position of Interim Director of the Sustainability Solutions Institute (SSI), effective July 1, 2010. Professor Woodruff has been at UC San Diego since 1979. He was the first chair of the Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution section in the Division of Biological Sciences, serves on a number of editorial boards, is an elected Fellow of several scholarly societies, and is a Trustee of the San Diego Zoo. Professor Woodruff has been active in numerous campus environmental research and teaching initiatives and is a former academic director of international education. His research focuses on the sustainability of biodiversity and ecosystems, and he has pioneered the use of non-invasive methods for studying the genetics of threatened species. He has two earned doctorates from the University of Melbourne in Australia. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Professor Paul Linden for his fine service over the past three years as Director of SSI. Please join us in congratulating David on his appointment.
