November 21, 2011

ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD (excluding UCSD Health System)

SUBJECT:    Amendment to UC Patent Agreement

The recent letter from Provost and Executive Vice President Lawrence Pitts and Executive Vice President Nathan Brostrom details the requirement that all faculty, staff, and others who use University resources or facilities sign an amendment to the patent document that was signed when they came to the University of California.

The University has engaged VR Election Services (VRES) to administer an electronic process for signing the Patent Amendment. Beginning the week of November 28, 2011, VRES will send an e-mail to individuals' UC e-mail addresses of record with a copy of the Patent Amendment and directions for submitting electronic signatures.

The Office of the President requests that the Amendment be signed promptly upon receipt.

For those individuals who do not have a UC e-mail address, VRES will mail a paper copy of the Amendment to their addresses of record. The mailing will include instructions for submitting electronic signatures or returning the signed Amendment by mail.

More information about the Patent Agreement and the signing process, including answers to frequently asked questions is available on the At Your Service website.
