OFFICE OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR – March 16, 2011
ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UCSD
We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and devastation in Japan caused by the 8.9 earthquake and subsequent tsunami. UC San Diego is home to many international scholars, students and alumni, including those from Japan, and our hearts and thoughts are with all of those who have been affected by this tragedy. The UC San Diego International Center has created a special webpage that lists a number of helpful resources including important phone numbers, counseling and psychological services, and ways to help. That webpage is: http://istudents.ucsd.edu/students/helpjapan.html We applaud the members of the UC San Diego community who are reaching out in numerous ways to help the people of Japan as they continue their rescue and recovery efforts and deal with the problems caused by the damaged nuclear reactors. These horrific events will have a lasting impact on Japan and countries around the world for years to come. We join our campus and global communities in expressing our heartfelt support, concern and condolences.
