Green Open House

OVER 5,000 EXPECTED FOR UC SAN DIEGO'S FIRST "GREEN" OPEN HOUSE UC San Diego's first-ever "Green" Open House takes place Saturday, April 16, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. This special event gives us a unique opportunity to invite the entire San Diego community to our campus, as well as our own faculty, staff, students, and their families to see our top-quality educational opportunities, groundbreaking translational research, and our numerous initiatives that are creating a cleaner and greener future for us all. Visitors will be able to explore our campus, learn about what we do and sample a wide array of activities and programs, with a special emphasis on sustainability and being "green."

Suggestions on how to participate:

* Present programs you want the community to know more about - even if they aren't related to sustainability!
* Do something fun that ties into our "green" theme.
* Create an interactive experience for visitors.

FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED
The deadline to sign up for a booth is quickly approaching. Departments need to register online at http://wailua.ucsd.edu/openhouse2011/Main.aspx by March 22 at 4:30 p.m. in order to have a booth for you and for your information to be included in the e-program. Once you complete the information, the planning committee will coordinate all the logistics for you.

EVENT CREW VOLUNTEER
As you would expect, putting on an event of this size requires a large number of people and we are hoping you will consider volunteering to assist. All Event Crew Volunteers receive a keepsake themed T-shirt, a catered lunch on the day of the event, and countless opportunities to meet new people--simply by participating in the "feel good" event of the spring. Sign up online at http://volunteer50.ucsd.edu/goh.php today. We'll even send praise of your participation to your supervisor or department head.

* Greet campus guests.
* Help lost & found children find their parents.
* Give out complimentary water bottles to keep guests hydrated & happy.
* Hand out venue maps & provide guidance to various locations & activities.
* Help people find their cars at the end of the event.

There will be an information session for anyone interested in volunteering.
