ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UCSD

SUBJECT:    Parking in Local Commercial Areas

UC San Diego’s Bus Zone program and free shuttle system transport thousands of students, faculty, and staff commuters to campus each day. Many commuters who use these sustainable transportation options may be parking at the following locations: University Town Center, Costa Verde Center, La Jolla Village Square, and the surrounding neighborhood.

I thought it important to advise you of actions being taken by the property managers of those areas. On March 28, 2011, University Town Center increased security patrols and officers began citing vehicles parked on mall property for extended periods. University Town Center management has informed Transportation Services that in accordance with California Vehicle Code 22658, they are authorized to tow vehicles after a citation has been issued. Please be advised that on private property, you park at your own risk and your vehicle may be towed.

If you have questions about parking in local commercial and residential areas, please contact Brian DeMeulle at bdemeulle@ucsd.edu. Thank you for your cooperation.
