CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Construction Fence Erection and Installation Storm Water Pollution Prevention Improvements for J. Craig Venter Institute on Torrey Pines Road

Project Description/Location:

Beginning April 7, 2011, the construction fence and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Improvements will be installed on the staging area and construction site for the new J. Craig Venter Institute building on Torrey Pines Road. On or about May, 2011, general site preparation will commence. This work will be followed by construction of site improvements and building construction.

The J. Craig Venter Institute on Torrey Pines Road will be a third party ground lease project under the management of J. Craig Venter Institute on the vacant University-owned property located on the west side of Torrey Pines Road immediately north of the City of San Diego’s Allen Field.

The J. Craig Venter Institute facility will consist of biological research laboratories, collaborative science spaces, offices, support space, and conference/meeting rooms, and an underground parking structure.

The main entry/exit for the construction site and staging area will be off Expedition Way. Intermittent impact to vehicular traffic on Expedition Way and Torrey Pines Road should be anticipated. On these occasions traffic will be controlled by flagmen or traffic control. No impact to vehicular traffic on the main campus is anticipated.
