We Need Your Participation!

Dear Colleagues:

I write to urge you to attend tomorrow's Representative Assembly meeting, where the main agenda item is the UC San Diego's budget situation.

Senate representatives have been participating in budget planning meetings with the Administration, and the Senate has posed a series of questions to the Administration about the current budget situation and plans to deal with reductions. The Administration provided answers, and this will be the starting point for the discussion at the meeting. I urge you to read this information, which is posted with the agenda, and talk with your colleagues so you can represent their views at the Assembly meeting. The Senate's voice needs to be heard on budget matters.

I also want to encourage all faculty to attend this meeting - not just Representative Assembly members or members of the Academic Senate. To accommodate this, we will try to finish the regular Representative Assembly business at the beginning of the agenda. Please share this information with all of your colleagues and encourage them to attend if they have an interest in the future of UCSD. The Academic Senate is anxious to work with all faculty at UCSD to bring ideas about the budget to the Administration.
