SUBJECT:    Research Data Management and Curation Pilot Program

UCSD researchers are invited to apply to participate in the Research Data Management and Curation Pilot Program. Beginning this summer, SDSC and the UCSD Libraries will offer 5 UCSD research projects an unprecedented opportunity to receive outstanding data management and curation services at reduced cost.

Pilot participants will receive:
. Assistance with the creation of advanced metadata to make data fully
   discoverable and available for re-use
. Use of SDSC's new data storage system (Data Oasis), staffed 24/7/365 by
dedicated operators and accessible via high-speed networks
. Use of Chronopolis, a geographically-dispersed preservation system

Considerations in selecting the 5 pilot projects will be a desire to include the diversity of data types and volumes produced at UCSD and the willingness of researchers to assign a member of the research group to work with the SDSC-Libraries team.

For more information about the Research Data Management and Curation Pilot Program see: http://rci.ucsd.edu.

To apply for consideration as a pilot project please send the following information by June 15, 2011 via e-mail to David Minor minor@sdsc.edu:

. Name of Researcher/Research Team
. Name of Department/Lab
. Brief description of research
. Estimated amount of data, or data per year, if appropriate
. Current location of data or location where new data will be generated
