KEY ADMINISTRATORS/KEY SUPPORT STAFF (excluding UCSD Medical Center)

SUBJECT:    Staff Employee Initiated Reduction in Time Program

In an effort to help address the serious budget deficit facing the University, the Employee Initiated Reduction in Time (ERIT) Program will begin on July 1, 2011 and end on June 30, 2012.

Under the ERIT Program, a career staff employee (regular status and probationary), except Senior Management Group members, may voluntarily reduce their working time and corresponding pay. For exclusively represented employees, participation in ERIT is dependent upon agreement by the applicable union.

Implementation of the ERIT Program is at the discretion of the department head. If the department head implements ERIT in the department or unit, in all cases, participation in ERIT requires approval of the supervisor and department head, and if appropriate, approval of the respective vice chancellor.

The ERIT Program eligibility information and resources are available at:

http://blink.ucsd.edu/HR/policies/erit.html

Inquiries regarding the ERIT Program should be directed to UCSD Human Resources Employee Relations, Policy Development and Work/Life at 858-534-4115 or employeerelations@ucsd.edu.
