SUBJECT:    Reappointment of Allan Havis as Provost of Thurgood Marshall
College

I am pleased to announce that, subsequent to a successful five-year review, I have reappointed Allan Havis as Provost of Thurgood Marshall College for an additional five-year term. During the past five years, Provost Havis has made major contributions to the quality of undergraduate education, including courses and programs. He has a strong commitment to Thurgood Marshall College and to the quality of life and cultural diversity for its students. The high profile event programming, including sponsorship of Nobel Laureate artists, that Provost Havis has arranged through Thurgood Marshall College has enriched the quality of student life in the college community and has been a clear benefit to the campus. In addition, Provost Havis has directly affected positive change within the College’s Dimensions of Culture Program and has renewed the College’s commitment to the vital partner schools Preuss, Gompers and Lincoln.

I am delighted that Thurgood Marshall College and the campus will continue to benefit from Provost Havis’ leadership. I appreciate the review committee’s thorough work, as well as the members’ insightful suggestions for continuing to move the college forward.

Please join us in thanking Provost Havis for his service to the campus, both past and future.
