SUBJECT: | CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Stuart Collection: Do-Ho Suh Art Piece
Installation |
Project Description/Location:
The Do-Ho Suh Art Piece installation is a sculpture that will be erected
on the 7th floor-roof level of the Jacobs Building (EBU1) on the UCSD
campus. Construction will commence August 7, 2011 and be completed by
January 3, 2012. The “Fallen Star” sculpture consists of a house
cantilevered at an angle from the corner of the building, integrated to
a structural concrete slab with a roof garden on the existing building.
Access to the art piece will be via the EBU1; 7th floor, and will be
open to the public after completion.
Immediate Impacts:
There will be partial closures of Warren Mall during construction
operations during the period August 7, 2011 through January 3, 2012 due
to material and construction staging. Deliveries of materials will
periodically impact the pedestrian paths on the west side of Warren
Mall. Detours and signage will be provided directing pedestrians around
the impacted area. Flagmen will also be present to direct pedestrian
traffic during concrete pours. Updates will continue to be provided
throughout the construction period.
