Appointment of Director of the Office for Students with

Disabilities We are pleased to announce the appointment of Joanna Boval as Director of the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD), effective August 8, 2011. Ms. Boval will report to Kathleen D. Johnson, Director of Undergraduate Education and Program Planning, under the oversight of Associate Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Education (AVCUE) Barbara Sawrey. Ms. Boval will serve as the campus leader and resource for ensuring compliance with federal laws, state regulations, and University guidelines related to disabled student services and equal access. She will direct the OSD office staff and operations, and will collaborate across campus units and departments regarding best practices for the delivery of services to students with disabilities.

We are delighted with the addition of Ms. Boval to the Academic Affairs leadership team. Ms. Boval brings to the position 18 years of professional experience, most recently as a UC San Diego OSD Disability Specialist. She has served as Executive Director of Greenhouse Family Services Foster Family Agency and founded the Disability Support Services Office at Loyola Marymount University.
