ACADEMIC PERSONNEL September 16, 2011
The University Office of the President has announced the details of the 2011-2012 salary program, effective October 1, 2011, for non-exclusively represented academic employees. President Yudof’s letter to UC Chancellors describing the salary program is available at: http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/merit Following are details regarding UCSD’s implementation guidelines. Eligible academic employees will receive a fixed 3% increase which will be reflected on the November 1, 2011, paycheck. The increase will be applied to on-scale salaries, above-scale salaries, and off-scale salaries that are not subject to tapering. For faculty participating in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, a fixed 3% will be applied to the scale rate (covered compensation); however, the total negotiated annual salary will remain the same. For faculty who do not have a negotiated component (Y) and receive only covered compensation, the increase will be reflected as a total salary increase. ELIGIBILITY Non-exclusively represented academic employees at any rank, step, or salary level with continued successful academic performance are eligible for the salary increase. Academic employees who have had two or more consecutive “no change” actions with no subsequent advancement in rank or step are not eligible for the salary increase. Ineligible appointees will be notified individually. Appointees with negotiated or by-agreement salaries, including visiting titles, are not eligible for the salary increase. Academic employees who are exclusively represented by a collective bargaining contract are not eligible for this program: Non-Senate Instructional Unit (Unit 18), Academic Student Employees (ASEs), the Postdoctoral Scholar Unit, the Librarian Unit and UCSD Medical Residents.
